WP1. Project Management. WP1 ensures efficient and smooth coordination and monitoring of all activities and tasks and that all project goals are met timely and within the budget. Specific objectives are: Risk management to guarantee deadlines and objectives are met and the project will have the expected impact; Technical management of the project including management for each WP and task; Financial and administrative project management including all reporting and communication.
WP2. Dissemination and Exploitation Activities. Consistent dissemination and communication to all relevant stakeholders. WP2 will be supported by project management (WP1) to ensure high-quality results are created, captured, assessed, disseminated and used. The objectives of this work package include the: 1) Dissemination of the project results and end-solution to a wide number of entities outside those directly involved in this work (workshops, newsletter, social media and website), 2) Exploitation, 3) IPR management, and 4) Communication Activities.
WP3. Monitoring Crop Developmental Cycle using smart farming technologies. The ultimate goal of the is WP is to develop yield prediction model for both fruit crops. Since the actual crops will probably not be available in the first six to nine months the first year will be dedicated to collecting preliminary data. This will allow for testing different methods to adjust irrigation and shading, manipulating the microclimate and inputs, to achieve the best fruit quality characteristics.
WP4. Unleashing Agro-Innovations with Adaptive Transparent Photovoltaics. WP4 aims to design, develop, and implement a smart PV structure equipped with transparent photovoltaics (PVs) and a specialty coating to control transparency. The structure will ensure optimal light quality and quantity for the enhanced growth of raspberries and cherries, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and generate renewable energy for the orchard’s operations.
WP5. FarmPV Implementation and Dynamic Control of RCF. This is the work package that all the technical work comes together. It is the creation of the pilot Farm (the MVP). All the technologies developed in WP3 and WP4 are implemented in this pilot farm bringing the project to a TRL 7. WP5 aims to demonstrate the superior adaptability of such system under a threatening extreme climate change conditions. The PVs, (providing adjustable shading and transparency) the netting (pest control and light diffusion), the irrigation along with sensors to monitor fertilization conditions will ensure optima conditions for growth. Lastly, WP5 will attempt to utilize the electricity produced to irrigate the farm with precision.
